As a Colorado “transplant”, I definitely get what all the fuss is about here in Fort Collins. My husband and I moved our family here after graduation from Virginia Tech in 2006 for what was to be a 2-year position for him at CSU. We rented a house in town for the first 6 months and then realized it would be cheaper to buy a house for the duration of our time here. When I started working with a realtor, I told him that we would only be here for 2 years. His response: “That’s what everyone says”. He was right. A few years ago we decided to settle here and call Fort Collins our permanent home. I can’t think of anywhere else I’d want to live and raise my three daughters.
My route to real estate winds through marketing jobs with universities, software companies, and even a poultry company! Even when I was in marketing, I was always interested in real estate, and would often peruse the homes on the market just for fun. I finally made the jump from marketing to real estate and my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. My family and I recently survived a 1-mile move into our new and more permanent house after outgrowing our first home. The excitement and sometimes stress of buying and selling are still very fresh in my mind, so I’m able to truly put myself in my clients’ shoes as I’m helping them through the transition.
